APAC Workplace Furniture Maker Schiavello Sets Sights on North American Market

Australian commercial furniture company Schiavello – with presence in New Zealand, China, Singapore and Dubai – has commenced a North American expansion.

Leveraging 700,000 square foot Melbourne headquarters and facility to innovate, design, manufacture and create custom solutions at scale. The founding business in multidisciplinary Schiavello Group, Schiavello Furniture is making significant investment in US growth, following more than 55 years of industry prominence in the APAC market. The company has previously designed directly for Google, LinkedIn and PwC within the region.

Peter Schiavello, Managing Director of Schiavello says, “Quality and integrity are two of our closest held values. We have strategically waited to expand into this powerful market until we were certain that we could deliver these values on a global scale. Now is the time.”

The US expansion includes the appointment of former Vice President of Dealer Development at Humanscale, Jeff Thompson, and the acquisition of a suite of new representation nationwide.

Jeff Thompson, Executive Vice President North America says, “Schiavello has the industry experience and design intelligence of America’s biggest commercial furniture players – with the agility to be responsive and adaptive in ways these big brands simply cannot match. It’s an exciting time for us all.”

Schiavello pioneered the sit to stand desk in the 1980s for the Australian Government. Today notable innovations include the Climate malleable workplace system in 2010 and the UL certified, industry-leading acoustic ‘room within a room’ Focus Quiet Room collection in 2019.

“Impactful innovation comes from genuine collaboration. Our bilateral relationship with our clients, partners and the industry ensures the ideas that make good workplaces great never get missed.” concludes Peter.

The broader Schiavello Group, guided by founder Tony Schiavello’s ‘Anything is Possible’ mantra, owns and operates subsidiaries in construction, property, technology, specialised engineering and tooling, metal, aluminium and wood processing, bathroom fittings, glass manufacturing, injection moulding, electrical component production, powder coating and upholstery – complete with commercial vineyard, Gioiello Estate Wines.
